Step Up 2: The Streets

Wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I wished I didn't have 2 left feet. :( This people can move. Not shaking asses but MOVE. So smooth and just very creative. Street dance eh. Well, Malaysia has more to learn about dancing. Though I have to admit that the orang hitam can dance maaaaaan.

This is the final dance which they won of course. I liked it though I didn't like the rain bit. So messy for my liking.

Malaysia's Anwar seeks sanctuary

This is over the top la. I mean who wants to kill him? I don't think the Government dare to touch him because there will be huge repercussion. Sigh! I'm quite tired of this. Can we just make Malaysia a better place to live. Become a great nation where everyone can thrive.

From the BBC.

Malaysian opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim has sought refuge in the Turkish embassy in Kuala Lumpur.

He told the BBC he had gone to the embassy because he was afraid of being arrested or assaulted.

Earlier, Mr Anwar rejected a new allegation of sodomy made by a member of his staff, describing it as a complete fabrication to discredit him.

He says the claims by a 23-year-old are designed to block his political resurgence after success at the polls.

'Same script repeated'

Mr Anwar told the BBC's Newshour programme he was "seeking personal protection because of my fear of my personal safety in case they arrest [me], and I don't want to repeat the assault and near death under custody of the... Malaysian police".

The ex-deputy PM was jailed in 1998 on sodomy and corruption charges he has said were politically motivated. The sodomy conviction was later overturned.

Although freed from jail in 2004, the corruption conviction barred him from holding political office until 15 April 2008.

He said the government was making up the same accusations as they did in 1998 because they did not want him to take part in elections.

"I'm now eligible to contest the elections, so they have to fabricate the same script being repeated in my earlier case in 1998, 1999," Mr Anwar added.

The latest claims against him came from an aide who has worked alongside him from the beginning of the year.

The right moment

Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi denied that the government has fabricated a case against him.

There was no conspiracy "to cause [Anwar] trouble or harass him or raise such issues to undermine him", he said.

In the general election in March, Mr Anwar led an opposition alliance to considerable gains.

They won control of the legislatures in five out of the country's 13 states, and an unprecedented 82 of the 222 seats in the House of Representatives.

The ruling National Front saw its worst showing in decades, prompting calls for the prime minister to resign.
Since then Mr Anwar has said he has the support of enough MPs to topple the government but is waiting for the right moment.

Kung Fu Panda

I got to say I was fairly amused with this show. Generally, I don't really like Jack Black for his comedies but this was good. Got some nice scenes and funny la basically. :) Needed a good laugh anyway.

(Over)Tired Thursday

Booo ya. Well, for sure I'm still tired because I was out all day long. Not your typical all day. But more like 11 hours on the road and 4 hours of shopping. Yea man, you know what I'm talking about.

Don't you love the bus services just stopping in front of your house.

More to come.

Wa Ai Si Liao Literally

I never felt like this before. Even in my sleep, I feel the world spinning. Just moving my eye balls, I could feel I was going around 180 degrees and just fall flat on my face. Walking not steady and any light I see is just like a slap on my face.

But for the sake of blogging, I'm putting my life for it. :P

I have to be honest, that is quite scary though. I don't know what's wrong with me. May be I had too much wines but I wasn't even drunk!!! May be it's a migraine? Aihhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I dunno.

How ah Doctors out there?

Firefox 3

I have been a fan of Firefox and it has never failed me to impress. I just recently upgraded myself to the Firefox 3 beta and to be honest, I'm not too fond of it. May be it's just my old computer not performing but I can't not smoothly if you know what I mean.

First of all, opening like 3 tabs make it so laggy already. Again may be it's my connection but I didn't have any problem with opening 10 tabs with the previous Firefox.

Secondly, when I add a new user or pass nothing pops up to verify whether I want to keep the user and pass. I have enabled that pre-caution and it worked fine in the previous version. So, no idea why this isn't popping up. Sigh.

Thirdly, the URL or navigation bar. When you just add a letter, it scrolls down recent sites you have visited. I know it's normal but the list is so big and freaking long. It's just too irritating. It gives you the title of the site and the http which means double the space. Which means I have to scroll more and even then my favourite websites aren't there.

Fourth, may be, I should write in. I have installed the UK version and it's still giving me a wrong spelling for favourite(NOT favorite!!!), colour(NOT color!!!) , grey(NOT gray!!!).

Fifth, Hotmail now is not responding to the new Firefox. The interface clashes and now, I'm stuck with the old version of Hotmail. Sighhhhhh.

Well, I want to go back to the old Firefox but I can't find the downloads anymore. All has been replaced. T_T!

D O A: Dead or Alive

I needed some brutality. Not too bad. Hahaha. Girl kick ass somemore. Waaaaaaaaaah!!! Lol. Nice moves too. What can you ask for more from too many hot girls. :P

Ubah Gaya Hidup!

Well, I know it's long after the elections but I think this is a funny clip. :)

Squidified

I love my sotong. Though I think eating too much of it now may be me soft at the bones. I think I had about 3kgs worth of it in 2 days in Terengganu.

What to do. Sotong season now what in Terengganu and all are too fresh not to eat them.

As for now there are so many new problems with everything due to price increases. What to do. Have to be economically already. Reduce wastage as much as possible.

Back-ku

So tired. I want to sleep. Couldn't get much sleep due to mosquitoes AGAIN!!! Sigh. I give up. I shall just donate my blood for first man. :(

Woke up at 6.17 a.m(I overslept. Hehehe!) and I left the house at 6.30 a.m. Not bad eh. Not to mention, I have to switch off the computer, pack my clothes, gosok gigi(of course) but okay la, no shower, that would be cutting too close.

Phew. Terengganu is still the best chill out place. :P

250GB more

Muahahahaha. My third baby. It was on offer and I couldn't resist getting it. I thought of getting the WD on Amazon which most of the time is cheaper but this was even cheaper with the ringgit. It should be okay since it's by Imation. To be honest, I might get another one. No harm what. You can just keep as side and once it's finish you can move to the other.

So, in total I have about 500 GB worth of portable hard drive. Yay. :) I should try to hit 1TB.

Emirates

To be honest, this is my first time flying Emirates. There has always been a big hype about being the best, value for money and most of all the food is good and unlimited(to a certain extend).

I think I will create a new topic along the way. Lol. Reviews of airlines.

So, what can I say about this airlines. Well, I have to split it into 2 sections. The first trip up and the trip back.

The first trip from KUL - DBX was not too bad though I have to say that the flight itself was a killer. Flying 2 a.m in the morning ain't my cup of tea. Heck, I don't even fly with Malaysia Airlines for the midnight flight to London. And most of you all know that I don't sleep too late. Zombie only while trying to eat.

The lounge was great and food came non-stop. I mean if I took a plate of salmon out, it was quickly replaced and especially bottles of drinks. The toilet too had a staff each(of course I didn't go to the ladies!) and it was really classy.

Now, the flight. I have to say it was quite bumpy. It was about 85% of the entire flight and of course, I myself didn't really like it too much. I know I know. What an Aeronautical Engineer trying to reassure people that a plane is much safer than a car. Hahahahaha.

Anyway, the staff members were absolutely CHOR LOR(very rough in Hokkien)!!! Goodness, it woke me about 3 times because they were pushing trolleys in and out of the galley and crashing the trolleys into my seat. I think that's very bad because it's like freaking 4 a.m and you go bang a person's chair. Of course, you can jump out and die of shock man. And there wasn't an apology.

So before you land they would serve breakfast. They conveniently had finish their coconut in rice(what else can it be la, Nasi Lemak) so, I had to make do with omelette. After eating that, I felt sick. Oily and gelak only eating it. Ishhhhhh.

Now, here was the fun and exciting. Usually when you land in the home country on the airline everything would be bigger and better. NOT. This is the first time that we have to queue to enter a lounge. I couldn't believe my eyes. That was not the only thing. Even the toilet you had to queue. Gila babi.

The airport is just too small to cope with the amount of people coming in. Yes, the next terminal is going to open at midyear but I don't think it's enough and space for people. Toilets are hardly available and walking to the other side of the new terminal will take about 40 minutes. So what if you have the biggest air terminal in the world. The thing is that you can't even transfer people fast enough. Aihhhhhhh. Think big but not well thought.

Anyway, after staying there for a miserably 3 hours, our plane took left for Larnaca. And also the bus driver got lost transferring people. Aihhhhhhhh. However, at least this is the latest plane in the fleet. Specs will go up later. :)

Some big ass TV. :P

That's the end for the first part. Part II coming up.

Be a Good Boy!

I am I am!!! Just that I'm just a bit naughty in not doing this for more than a year plus. I guess it's about time for me to return his money back to him. And it's not like RM100-200. Just say it's a big whooping 4 digit. Though he also at fault. I mean if he wants the money back, then he should ask me.

I'm just too nice. But I think it's time too.

Good Morning KL

Dunno whether I have taken a picture like this but I think it's pretty of course I woke up very early. Jetlag.

The Spiderwick Chronicles

Well, I suppose it was an interesting show. Action? No la. It has its entertainment value but I guess I'm a bit old for it. It was definitely better than that Bridge to Terabithia at time. And also we have Freddie Highmore(from August Rush) acting as brothers in this.

I just loved it when his twin brother(him of course) said, "I'm a pacifist. I don't do conflict!" with an American accent. Kelakar la. I have to admit he is so British when he speaks normally.

Violet Dreams

I seriously dunno what's happening. My dreams are getting quite bad now. I used to dream every night though it's random events.

Once, I dreamt that I was being chased by Uruk-hai's(from LOTR) down Shrewsbury(where Concord College is) and I defeated them by using Head and Shoulders shampoo. O_O! Now, that is really a story to tell.

Anyway, now it's just like bloody killings, torture, shouting and screaming. During this last trip, I also knew that I screamed on top of my voice saying "NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!" in the middle of the night. Even my sister was worried for me.

I think it was quite a bad nightmare. I don't believe I have ever shouted in my dreams(as if I would know also la) but this was loud. I think it was like the some boat was sinking with everyone. My family and friends, seniors and juniors. It gave me chills.

There must be something wrong with me. Must be me(am I?) holding back things or certain things which is affecting me badly. I know last Friday had a big impact.

Aihhhhhhhhhhh! Hope I don't sleep walk.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of The Crystal Skull

Ah ha. I finally watched this. Well, I'm not saying it was disappointing but I thought it would be more kick-ass compared to the other trilogy back in the 70's or was it the 80's? Oh well, Harrison Ford is still young looking(must be his make-up) but there was still a bit more CG compared to the olden times.

All in all, it was okay la. For the sake of the old times. :) Though I think there will be more Indy in the future as they are making way for some of the characters. You'll see.

Time to Walk the Talk and Get Public Transportation Moving

Well, anyone from overseas can tell you that this can be solved easily. This is going to be long but I think it's time for Malaysia to step up in what they are saying especially the recent oil price hike.

I believe this can be solved in the next 6 months for buses and for our trains, JUST GET MORE LA!!! The LRT tracks are long enough to have 2 trains to go at the same time or just increase the frequency. DUHHHHHH!!! But extending and adding more USEFUL routes would be a good solution too.

From the Star.

By LEONG SHEN-LI

THE math is quite simple. With as little as RM7, you can travel almost anywhere on Klang Valley’s RapidKL’s buses and light rail transit for the whole day. With a monthly pass for RM135 – just a little more than a full tank of petrol for a Proton Wira – your month’s transport needs should be taken care of. The cost should be lower in other parts of the country.

But of course, the current state of our public transport obviously cannot take care of anyone’s needs satisfactorily.

Unreliable buses and trains, sardine-packed LRTs, delayed buses because of traffic jams, safety concerns and a host of other negative issues make public transport hardly desirable as an alternative to private cars.

Here are some crucial improvements needed before public transport can become a true option for people.

1. More trains and buses

It is as basic as this! Not only will service become more reliable, more trains and buses will make public transport less packed and more attractive.

No one, especially women, will trade the comfort of a car for a situation where one is pressed all over by other humans in a train, even if it costs more.

Promises were made for more LRT vehicles and buses under the RapidKL and Rapid Penang regimes. How much longer do we have to wait?

2. Get the new lines going

The new Damansara-Cheras LRT line, as well as the Subang Jaya and Puchong extensions, were announced by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in 2006. Till today, we have not heard about when work will start.

We do not even know where they will run. It is crucial to also think beyond these new lines.

Singapore already knows where its new Mass Rapid Transit lines will run in 2020.

3. Cash for maintenance

The KTM Komuter, after running for 13 years, is now suffering from years of “postponing” maintenance due to funding issues. The LRT system is about 10 years old now, which is about the right time for an overhaul.

RapidKL is also facing issues with keeping its buses on the road because of breakdowns. Other private companies can hardly afford regular maintenance, what more, overhauling. The Government must come to their aid.

Get the allocations disbursed quickly, get the tenders out without delay and pick the correct people to do the work. Remember, keeping enough buses on the road is not just about buying new buses. It is about keeping the existing ones in working condition.

4. Low fares through subsidies

Low fares are crucial, especially when we are putting the case for public transport in the context of rising living costs. Most people who rely on public transport cannot afford any other means of travel.

If there is a group of people who should benefit from subsidies, this should be the one. Subsidies can come from taxing private car users – either through road tax or road pricing. The World Bank says that private car users are generally “undercharged” for using urban roads and for their impact on the environment.

5. One or two companies enough

Competition in public transport is not about having many companies running the same route, it is about competing for the right to run on a particular route.

An operator is selected on the basis of being most able to satisfy the requirements of commuters and other parties (reliable service, safe buses, lowest subsidy) and once selected, it should enjoy a monopoly of the route.

The Government will have to regulate to ensure service is up to the mark. The benchmark should be the best-run route in the system.

6. One regulatory authority

It is a case of too many cooks spoiling the broth, as each cook has his own ideas and conflicting interests. Now, 13 government departments and agencies have a say in public transport.

There should just be one to plan the system, dish out the permits (to control the number of operators), organise the routes (to curb duplication) and ensure that the trains and buses run according to time.

It should also be the one dishing out subsidies. The single authority should have only one objective and no other – to ensure that the public gets good public transport.

7. Bus lanes and other facilities

Buses should have their own “track” so that they can be faster than private cars. That is the only way public transport can be more attractive than cars.

Modern bus lanes such as those in Curitiba, Brazil, and Jakarta – where they are virtually separate special roads just for buses – have made bus transport a success. And don’t worry if road users complain. The one lane taken away from them is making the movement of thousands of people more efficient. Bus lanes are also cheaper than train systems and can be just as efficient.

8. Ensure safety of passengers

It should be a basic right of commuters to be able to travel safely. An unsafe system will only turn people away.

9. Good customer information

There is no point in having hundreds of beautiful buses on the road without commuters knowing where they are going. Many rather drive than take buses because they are in control of their journey. The more people know how the system works, the more they will use the system.

10. Please walk the talk

All the above initiatives and problems have been recognised, considered and studied. Announcements are regularly made of moves to improve the system. Yet this comment still has to be written in such a tone. There may ultimately just be one paramount suggestion – don’t just talk, please get things moving!

Euro Cup 2008

Ah ha. Those who knows me well knows I hate hate hate hate despise football(NOT SOCCER!) don't watch a single match. I don't makan bola and tidur bola. NEVER. There is no way I would wake up 2 a.m for just 1 stupid lousy match. Even the world cup I did once and that was it. It was very disappointing too that Brazil match. Pui!!!

Anyway, there was one occasion in 2004 when the league started. I was proud to say I have watched every single match. Up to the finals. Hah. Even I could name all the goals though without much technical terms like that stupid Beckham should tackle that dude etc, that ref was lousy etc etc. All were impressed with my broad information about every match.

So, today would be the first match, Switzerland vs Czech Republic. We shall see we shall. Though poor England tak masuk and the manager kena piak. Sometimes can't blame the manager but the lousy players mah.

Pink - Leave Me Alone

This song certainly caught my attention. A very good good song for those who wants to be alone. Well, she sang this song in her concert in Bergen and wow! I certainly danced to this. Look at her retro song too. :D

- Update -

Round 2. Just damn pissed!!! ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

The Palms

I made a post on Dubai. And I said to myself, it would be great to see this for myself. There is no words to describe it. I was just blown away when I looked out the window.

To be honest, we were still ascending to our flight level and no electronics should not be switched on and also the safety belt sign was still on. Ding dong of me to leave my camera up on top the overhead compartment, I said screw it, I definitely won't get this picture anytime soon.

The Palms and the Palms II is somewhere far up right.

Defying the restriction, I was quick as lighting though I felt I could just roll down the airplane because it was at about 30 degrees in angle. Anyway, I tried to snap as many as I could.

Downtown Dubai. The tallest building is somewhere down there.

It is just grand don't you think. Doing the impossible as most of them say.

p/s: I have to say that this is one of greatest pictures I ever taken. So proud of myself. :)

ARGH!!!

Son of a b***h. There is no way in hell I will do it again and I swear I won't. Blah. And that's it.

Can't Sleep

Just feel like taking a club and banging my head until I see stars. Hahaha. A bit extreme I know but I want to sleep lor. And I'm hungry too.

Though I had a weird dream. I dreamed of telling people I got 3 ducks from the UK? Damn weird. I guess I love my quack quack. Lol.

There's nothing much to say really. :)

Petrol to cost RM2.70 from midnight in Malaysia

Okay. I think this is a bit overkill. A hike of 40%. That's a first. Though what happened to the government saying no fuel price going up during the election. SO MUCH FOR THAT. Most likely, they will say that we must go with the current situation of the economy and world. We still have the cheapest petrol in the world. Bluek.

Those in Malaysia. Go pump!!!

From the Star.

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi on Wednesday announced price hikes for petrol, diesel and electricity.

He said the new price for petrol is RM2.70 a litre, effective midnight tonight. The price goes up by 78sen from the current RM1.92, a hike of 40%.

Abdullah also announced that the price of diesel would be increased by RM1 from RM1.58 to RM2.58.

He also said that Tenaga Nasional Bhd would be raising electricity rates by 18% for homes and 26% for business users.

The announcements are part of the new fuel subsidy plan.

Abdullah also announced a RM625 annual cash rebate per vehicle, for owners of private vehicles with engine capacities of up to 2,000cc, as well as pickup trucks and jeeps with engine capacities of up to 2,500cc.

Owners of private motorcycles with engine capacities of up to 250cc will receive RM150.

Payment will be made via Money Order upon renewal of road tax, from July 1.

For owners of private vehicles with engine capacities exceeding 2000cc, road tax will be reduced by RM200.

Owners of private motorcycles with engine capacities above 250 cc will get RM50 reduction in road tax.

Malaysia to let fuel prices rise

Oh ho. Everything is going up. Yes, I know we have been benefiting with tonnes of fuel subsidies and yet we complain it's too pricey and expensive. Not to mention our pay is very low. How can we survive here or in KL.

I know it will be taxing on us but sooner or later this has to come in play. We can't just keep tapping into our oil money to pay for everything. Oil and gas is not here forever. So, I don't think it's entirely wrong of the Government to make this move.

So, I guess everyone will be taxing the public transport. Hmmmmmmm.

From the BBC.

Malaysia is to remove controls on fuel prices from August, allowing petrol and diesel prices to rise.

A new price structure will mean that the price at the pump "will depend on global market prices", said cabinet minister Shahrir Abdul Samad.

Malaysia currently has some of the world's cheapest fuel prices, but the subsidies are expected to cost it about $14bn (£7bn) this year.

There will be different measures to subsidise those on lower incomes.

Malaysia recently had to stop foreigners crossing the border to fill up.

Cash handouts and fuel quotas are among the measures being considered.

Full details of the new system will be released on Wednesday.

End speculation

Petrol currently costs 1.92 ringgit (59 US cents; 30 pence) per litre, which is less than half the price in neighbouring Singapore.

Malaysia is a net exporter of oil and so has been gaining from rising fuel prices, but the subsidy on pump prices has still been a big drain on its treasury.

Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has called for drastic measures to ensure food and fuel security, including banning oil speculation.

"The international community must be prepared to consider bold and unprecedented measures," he said.

He suggested one option might be to suspend trading of oil on futures markets.

p/s: This is the main topic in the Star. Too many to read and post it here. Lol.

First For Everything

I normally bring back about 10kgs worth of food to the UK. You name what food I had it. I had satay, prawn mee, hokkien mee(the black one), sambal, fried chicken and pork, fried onions, fried garlic and oil, spices etc. So, you can imagine what my weight was all the time.

To be frank, I haven't brought back anything into Malaysia other than chocolates, biscuits and crisps. Nothing real food like. Until this trip.

Ta daaaaaa. You know what it is. Quack quack in all its glory. Of course it has to be Four Seasons. You can't imagine what I had to go through just for this. Nor did I get one but THREE!!! Aren't I greedy? Hahaha. Nah, I'm NOT greedy and thum chiak ok? They were presents from me to my friends since they haven't been back lately.

It weighed a tonne though. Fat ducks there are!!! :P

Bosan-nyer

What can you say about this country. Hahaha. Well, I guess it's good to be back. :) Now, need to rest and overcome my jet-lag.

It's going to be a busy blogging period. :P

16 hours To Come

Ah. It just popped out of my mind. I dread going back. You will know why soon enough. We shall see. We must always give people second chances right? If not, you will see this post going extra extra long in the next 16 hours.

Wish me luck.

3 Days Over

How time really pass. I arrived from a burning hell place and coming back to this great city. Eating all what I can(Piggie me I know but haiya, you live once only la) and travel everywhere with public transport. Hahaha. I just love the public transport. Yes yes we have the odd stupid 4-5 same buses arriving the same time.

Anyway, I think it was good. Mostly, talked to all of I wanted to. Of course, I wanted to stay longer, much much longer but then I think I had a good time already so it would be a wise decision to go back. Aihhhhhhh.

Getting emo now.

*Slap slap*

Hahaha. Thinking too much!!!
