Baskin Robbins Boycott!!!

Today is the day(and the other 31 days in the months) where this ice-cream shop goes on a discount. 31% to be exact. Being Malaysian and love a cheap deals who wouldn't go out and buy one. Nevermind. I thought I had the patience to go may be 2 scoops for me and my mom and buy a pint for my dad.

The first shop in Midvalley was just packed with people. I said nah I think I will go to Mont Kiara and get it there.

But noooooooooooooooooo! That place was filled with people. Tak pe. I took a number and waited. I was at number 66 and the queue was at 53. I thought it was going to be fast. Nevermind people buying the biggest tub.

But TNMCHCCB guy who bought like 7 quarts of 7 different flavour. I'm like you f**ker. Dah lah the queue is so long, you want to buy like that. And there are like so many of us queuing. Yes, I know you have the right but be slightly considerate la.

I curse you and whoever is eating all that ice-cream will be like this and there is no coming back!!!

I might be jealous and envious for not getting anything but wah lau. Damn you la and gave me a grin somemore. Middle finger to you dick!!!

Headache Laaaaaaaaaaa!!!

Have you ever woken up to headache even after resting quite well? I mean yes if I sleep too much more like 9 hours I would have a headache but this time I don't think it's the same case. Hmmmmmm. Headache la!!!

T_T

Release Hindraf 5, says Samy ... Yes, You read that right!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Isn't it a bit too late? I mean baru kalah, now do it. It's too late man. But I guess it's a starting point from somewhere. How come la deeei!!! :D

From the Star.

KUALA LUMPUR: MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu has urged the government to release the five Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) leaders who are being detained under the Internal Security Act (ISA).

He said two of the leaders -- R. Kenghadaran, 40, who is very sick and M. Manoharan, 46, who had won the Kota Alam Shah state seat in Selangor on a DAP ticket on March 8 -- should be freed sooner.

He said another two, V. Ganabatirau, 34, and K. Vasantha Kumar, 34, had not been very much involved in the rally organised by Hindraf in Kuala Lumpur on Nov 25 last year.

The fifth leader being detained under the ISA is P. Uthayakumar.

Speaking to reporters after opening a workshop on "Rebranding the MIC" here Sunday, Samy Vellu said the wives of Kenghadaran and Manoharan had approached him for his assistance.

"I have decided to raise it with the government. I will raise it (the issue of their release) with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi after he returns from Sabah.

"I will also meet Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar and Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan. I have already made some moves on this earlier but I did not tell anyone. I will now make a firm move to see what can be done by the government with regard to their plight," Samy Vellu claimed.

He said Ganabatirau, and Vasantha Kumar were "not very much involved (in the rally), so the government has to make a decision."

Samy Vellu claimed that this was not a publicity stunt or a move to win back Indian support for the party.

"This is done in fairness, sympathy and, also, we feel that we as Indians have to do something about it. It is not a publicity stunt," he said.

Samy Vellu said that he was harshly criticised by certain people when he spoke to Abdullah and the Attorney General about reducing the attempted murder charges against the 31 people detained during the Hindraf rally, but he had continued to assist them.

....................................... Sunday

Feel like filling the blanks for me?

Anyway, have you ever felt that Sunday is just Sunday? Huh? Sounds duh but I mean there is something about Sunday. The sun is always up extra hotter than usual. People seems to be more happy. I just it's just the nice 2 days of relax.

I on the other hand just feel so ............................................ Hahahaha. Not that being emo or anything, just that I feel like a block of wood. Dunno leh. Feels so odd I tell you.

Well, of course there is an origin of Sunday. It was used during in ancient Egyptians for prayers where they prayed to the God of Sun, Amon-Ra. Not bad eh my history. :P

Wonderful Friday

The day of course started very ordinary. Just your typical Friday. However, I managed to go through about 2500 emails and I think that's really good progress. Anyway, it all started when Heng Kai decided to meet up for dinner sure. So much for having dinner at 7 p.m which ended up at 8.45 p.m.

I can't really blame anyone since traffic was crazy and it poured before that and it was a Friday night. Load of plans changed within 30 minutes but it turned out fine. Anyway, the restaurant was called Ong Lai.

There were a few surprises. We had 2 addition guest, Kevin and Syn-In(now that was REALLY a surprise) came along. Of course, the more the merrier and the more food we could eat. Dinner was in Jalan Raja Laut near Hotel Wilayah and food was yummy. The O Chien was super yummy. Long time I haven't eaten that.

O Chien.

Steam fish head.

During dinner, I had a mysterious phone call from this girl. The restaurant was a bit noisy. So, I was like who in the world is calling me. This PJ number. Speak of the devil, it was Charlotte. She was back for a short meeting back in KL. Where can like this one.

So after dinner, we headed off to Murni which to be honest, I haven't seen a mamak like that before. It stretched up to 100 metres along the shop lots. And it was PACKED. Seriously. You couldn't even find a space. I was gob-smacked indeed. Anyway, we talked and chatted but it was definitely great to see her again. Actually, it wasn't long we saw her I think.

p/s: Will get a picture from Spinzer soon.

Friday 28 March 2008

Yatta

I also dunno what to yatta about but I suppose going through 2000 emails is quite a feat in 2 days. I mean come on! Can you read and check whether the email is suppose to be right or wrong. Of course, this is top secret but going through them is a nightmare. Read each and everyone of it.

Oh well. My small little driver will be picking me up now for dinner which I have NO IDEA where I'm going. All I know is that I'm going to Jalan Raja Laut.

Hope dinner would be good. :)

Singapore grounds a second A380

Oh no! The latest glitch for this big beauty. Well, I still want to sit on it. :P

Singapore Airlines has grounded a second Airbus A380 super-jumbo because of a fuel pump problem.

The carrier said the move delayed passengers bound for Sydney on Monday who had to switch to smaller planes.

It added that the A380 in question was now back in service.

A similar fuel pump problem grounded another of the airline's A380s back in February.

Singapore Airlines is currently the first and only carrier to enter the A380 into commercial service.

London visit

"The problem is similar to the problem which affected another aircraft a month or so back, but it is important to mention, it is not the same problem, and not the same aircraft," said Singapore Airlines spokesman Stephen Forshaw.

"The problem last time was identified to be with the electrical relay powering the pump, rather than the pump itself," he said.

Mr Forshaw added that this time the problem involved a "premature failure of the pump".

At present the airline has three of the planes, with another 16 on order.

Last week it flew an A380 into London's Heathrow Airport for the first time.

It first introduced the plane in October, on its Singapore to Sydney route.

Other orders

Dubai-based Emirates will become the second airline to use the A380 when it takes its first delivery in August.

British Airways has ordered 12 of the airliners, due to be delivered from 2012, while Virgin Atlantic has ordered six, to arrive from 2013.

The airliner's wings are made at Broughton in north Wales and at Filton in Bristol.

The Rolls-Royce engines that power Singapore's fleet are built at Derby.

The introduction of the A380 was delayed for more than a year due to wiring problems.

Too Much Thursday

Well, what a whacky day. Happy, sad, angry, depressed, overjoyed and everything la. Hahaha. This makes us human only kan. But for now, I have to really really sort my computer.

Anyone knows anything about Outlook Express? It's a nightmare!!! :(

Happy Birthday Wayn

Happy Birthday Wayn. Hahaha. I seriously hope that you have/had a great day. He is definitely one of the most quirky junior I ever met. Very mature for his age leh. :D

21 years old have more responsibility as ever.

All the best for the exams and happy holiday too. :)

Soap Powder Madness

Talking about madness. We have been searching for low price Persil soap powder for a few months now. We found out that Carrefour had an offer on the soap powder which was going for RM21.99!!! Other shops like Giant, Jusco and such are at about RM32.50. So if you were like me and Malaysian, would you go again to Carrefour to check whether they would have stocked on the same product again?

OF COURSE YOU WOULD!!! Don't say I'm being cheap here ah. If you can save RM10 why not. I mean 10 cents okay la, that would be over the top but now it's RM10 difference leh. Of course buy like mad. :)

So, we bought about 6 boxes and carrying these boxes everywhere definitely attract attention. either people staring or either asking why did you buy so much? Is Malaysia out of soap powder in the near future? Well, you never know since Malaysia can be low on cooking oil and sugar. :P

Who knows? I will start a dobi here in my house. Hahahaha.

Give A Break Laaaaaaa

Can't we all live in peace? I mean can the government just shut up and just give the Opposition a chance. 2 weeks into the election already trying to point out how bad the Opposition is. I mean as if la, there weren't any hiccups after changing of governments.

It will take more than defamation and insults to change the voters vote just yet. And if the Opposition doesn't do their work well, then change back la. Apa susah sangat?!?! Guna otak sikit. Sore losers.

You just have to wait till next election. You lost the trust of the people so deal with it!

Worried

Just worried about the family. Hopefully, everything is well tomorrow. Won't be sleeping too well tonight. Aiiiiiiiiiiihhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Shabery to Hear Out Bloggers

See. The power of bloggers. So how ah now Nazri? No statements from you leh! We bloggers are idiots ah? I suppose you know who are the one laughing last now. :P

KUALA LUMPUR: The Government will not control bloggers but will consider their views as well. That is the assurance given by newly-appointed Information Minister Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek, who is planning a meeting with the blogging community “in the next few weeks to hear them out”.

“The alternative media, like bloggers, play a role in nation building. It is the most direct and simple channel for people to voice their opinions. Sometimes, they can bring about a negative effect but it is mostly positive.”

First meeting: Shabery and Datuk Tan Lian Hoe meeting reporters for the first time as Information Minister and Deputy Information Minister at Angkasapuri yesterday.

Shabery said some had overlooked the significance played by bloggers, who could now form their own personal broadcast centres via their websites.

He dismissed the view that bloggers sided with the Opposition, saying that the bloggers only expressed their personal opinion.

“Bloggers are individuals and they have differing opinions. I cannot say that they are all Opposition. Sometimes, they are seen to support the Opposition but sometimes they criticise the Opposition too,” he said.

On whether the Government would enforce some control on the blogging community, Shabery said they would not do so.

“The question of controlling bloggers does not arise. As the saying goes, you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink,” he said.

Asked if there was a message that he would pass to the bloggers in the meeting, Shabery said: “It is better that I be a listener first”.

To a question whether the mainstream media had lost its credibility and relevance due to laws governing the media, he said that the rise of blogs was a global trend, adding that this, however, did not mean that people had sidelined the media.

“No matter how free the mainstream media is (from government control), like in the USA, UK and Australia, it is still subject to the standpoint of their respective media (organisation) heads. So, people will still seek alternative news,” he said.

Apa Khabar?

I'm now in Terengganu and it's still the best place to really chill. Food is great and people here just love to smile. Honestly!!! This is truly Malaysian man with the warmth and such. Corny I know but hai ya, must love our country what.

On the side note, there are a mini protest in the city centre that we had to divert. Oh well. More chaos with politics.

Talking about politics, I have a lot to complain after this trip about what development there are now for this beautiful state.

Friday 21 March 2008

A380 to Make UK Commercial Debut

I want to sit lehhhhh!!! Oh well, I have to wait for Malaysia Airlines to have it. :)

From the BBC.

The Airbus A380 "super-jumbo" is due to make its European commercial debut when a flight from Singapore lands at London's Heathrow airport.

Singapore Airlines is the first carrier to operate the new double-decker aircraft on revenue-earning services.

Flight SQ308 is due to arrive at Heathrow at 1505 GMT.

British Airways has ordered 12 of the airliners, due to be delivered from 2012, while Virgin Atlantic has ordered six, to arrive from 2013.

The Singapore Airlines flight is expected to have up to 470 passengers on board, each of whom will receive a personalised certificate to commemorate the historic first flight to the UK.

The carrier has three A380s in service, with 16 more on order, and has been using them on flights between Singapore and Sydney, Australia, since October 2007.

Environmental claims

The A380 made its Heathrow debut in May 2006, when a pre-production aircraft arrived to test facilities.

Heathrow's owner BAA has constructed a special pier at Terminal 3 to accommodate A380s, which will also be flown to the airport by Dubai-based Emirates.

Pier 6, as it is known, was completed in 2006 at a cost of £105m and provides space for four of the double-deck airliners.

Other works, costing more than £340m, had to be carried out on the airfield to allow for operations by the world's la

Runways had to be resurfaced, lighting upgraded and taxiways changed in preparation for the A380.

Terminal 5, which was opened by the Queen last Friday, will also be able to handle the airliner when it enters service with British Airways.

Airbus is making bold claims for the A380's impact on the environment, saying the aircraft burns 17% less fuel per seat than the current largest airliner.

The company argues that equates to the airliner producing 75g of CO2 per passenger and per kilometre.

Inaugural flight

Friends of the Earth is not convinced by that argument, saying that while cleaner aircraft are required, it expects any benefits to be undermined by the forecast rapid growth in demand for air travel.

Singapore Airlines say the start of commercial A380 services to London will be a "proud moment" for the UK aviation sector.

The airliner's wings are made at Broughton in north Wales and at Filton in Bristol. The Rolls-Royce engines that power Singapore's fleet are built at Derby.

Among those on board the inaugural flight will be Mark Wright from Northamptonshire.

He is a member of the enthusiasts' group First to Fly - who have been onboard a number of inaugural flights.

"I have long been an aviation enthusiast and was really keen on Concorde although I was never fortunate to fly on it," he said.

"I saw the A380 when it came to Farnborough in 2006 and thought it looked terrific. I was particularly impressed with the wings. They were amazing."

Ah ha. Finally, caffeine-free diet coke is here. Though, I protest with the diet coke, I have to make do with it.

Not to mention, Vitagen is now with less sugar. Wahhhh. Since when Malaysia think of this one. Hehehe. Though to be honest, it is still very sweet leh. Oh well. Better than nothing I suppose.

And yes, another finally is I got some cloth to make a batik shirt. Can you believe that I don't have a batik shirt for the past 20 years. Tried my father's but I was basically swimming in it. Isssssh. Now, I have to tailor make it.

Heavenly Thai

Oh man, it was one of the best thai food I tasted. I mean food was really good. Presentation was great. Service still need to improve. But hey, since they just opened less than one month, they have out done themselves. It is located in Palm Square in the newly opened business centre in Jaya One along Jalan Universiti.

I'm so full now. So yum yum la. All I can say. :D

Will take pictures next time.

Dragon Wars

An yang sae yo!!! Hahaha. Well, this show is a Korean adaptation of one of the legends la. With serpents changing into dragon. But of course, this is all in English. Loads of CGI and okay. Just some out of this world fantasy.

Though of course, we have to say, were there dragons during our ancestors time? I used to believe that painting from China are overly exaggerated with mountains just popping here and there. My my. I was so wrong when I went over there(especially in Gui Lin) where it really exist. Having a single house on each mountain top. It was certinly, mind boggling.

Spoilt Sunday

Reading the newspapers today just makes me tick. It's just utterly stupid and I have to admit very bias. What a thing to spoil a Sunday morning.

I suppose we can't really say much about it eh. Too malas now to bitch and complain about it. Nanti kena tangkap ISA susah also.

Heh!

UMNO Protest?

Ahhhhhhhhh. Now, this is a first. An UMNO protest. Since when this body of the government can protest. Sure! Of course we can protest. We have our rights. But an hour long! Come on la. When other people do it for just 15 minutes, tear gas and water cannons are immediately unleashed onto the PEACEFUL protesters.

Not to mention, did they get their permits to do so? Nah. I don't think so. Conclusion, ILLEGAL!!!

What happened to the Government saying, 'Malaysians hate protest. It's not in our culture.' You don't see them saying that now eh. Not to mention, a protest BY YOUR PARTY. Come on say it out loud now. Say it. I know you want to say it.

And miraculously, no one got arrested.

Double standards la. I just hate it. I'm not being pro-opposition or creating racial tension(as some call it) but a person with right common sense will tell you that it's just wrong and total bullshit.

Just to note here, there is NO country in the world where its citizens loves to have protest 24/7. Even the US citizens aren't fanatical with protests.

From the Star.

PENANG: A big crowd, comprising mostly Umno members and supporters, took to the streets around Komtar after Friday prayers yesterday to protest against Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng’s remarks on the New Economic Policy (NEP).

Chanting slogans, the protesters marched towards Komtar in Jalan Dr Lim Chwee Leong at about 2.30pm.

Angry crowd: Umno members and supporters protesting in front of Komtar in Penang yesterday over Guan Eng’s remarks on the NEP.

The protest was held in response to Lim’s statement that DAP-PKR would run the government “free from the NEP that breeds cronyism, corruption and systemic inefficiency.”

Speaking to reporters, Bukit Mertajam Umno division chief Datuk Musa Sheikh Fadzir said the state Umno would hand over a four-point memorandum to Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas next week in protest of Guan Eng’s statement.

Tanjung Umno division chief Datuk Ahmad Ibnihajar denied the protest was led by the state Umno and claimed the Malays had gathered in response to Short Message Service texts which were circulated yesterday.

He said the DAP-led government had not respected the rights of the Malays and that the Penang Malays “wanted them out.”

Voicing their concern: Protesters holding banners outside the state mosque in Shah Alam yesterday.

At 3.30pm, George Town OCPD Asst Comm Azam Abd Hamid advised the protesters to disperse, using a loud hailer.

They only left when five trucks, including one equipped with water cannon from the Federal Reserve Unit arrived 30 minutes later.

Acting state police chief Senior Asst Comm (I) Datuk Salleh Mat Rasid said no untoward incidents were reported but two men were brought back for questioning.

Guan Eng said Umno leaders need not take to the streets as they can always meet him on issues affecting Penang Malays.

PKR has lodged a police report on Thursday night over an attempt to incite people to protest against the new state government.

“There were irresponsible people spreading rumours and we want to make it clear that PKR is in no way involved.

“Clearly it was meant to create racial tension among the people. As far as PKR is concerned, we accept and support the new state executive council appointments,'' PKR Bayan Baru information chief Annuar Ismail said after lodging the police report.

In SHAH ALAM, another group marched from the state mosque to the state secretariat building here to stage a similar protest.

The crowd gathered at the roundabout near the mosque just after the Friday prayers.

They stopped in front of a line formed by police Light Strike Force personnel about 150m from the main entrance to the building, continued with their protest and left peacefully about 20 minutes later.

Shah Alam Deputy OCPD Deputy Supt Mohd Shariff Abdul Wahid said police were aware of the planned gathering and confirmed that no permit had been issued for it.

Meanwhile, Kinrara assemblyman Teresa Kok, which the SMS had purportedly said to have called for the abolishment of the NEP in Selangor, denied ever saying such a thing.

“I have never asked Tan Sri Khalid to abolish the NEP in Selangor,” she said.

Jewel of Tibet - The Musical

So, this I think is a Malaysian production la. It's a Chinese musical talking during the Tang Dynasty and relationships between 2 countries.

Everything was in Chinese(as you all know I'm the most bananaiest person on Earth) but luckily, they had English subtitles. Ah ha. I'm not that stuuuuuupid to go to a show without knowing what I'm listening too. :P

I say I would give them a 9.7/10 for Malaysian standards. The production was good, the set was not too shabby and the clothings were really grand.

Well done, Malaysia.

China Hits Back at US on Rights

You can say that again. I know the US is a great place to be in. Hack. I love it there. But don't la mess in other people's mess. Senyap-senyap correct your actions before you go criticise people. Thumbs up to China. :P

From the BBC.

China has accused the US of double standards over human rights in response to an official US report which labelled Beijing an authoritarian regime.

Beijing calls Washington's rights record "tattered and shocking".

The Chinese report cites rising violent crime in the US as posing a serious threat to the lives, liberty and personal security of its people.

The foreign ministry said the US should stop posing as a rights watchdog and concentrate on its own problems.

"Stop exercising double standards on human rights issues and wrongly meddling in the internal affairs of other countries," said ministry spokesman Qin Gang.

He added that China's achievements on human rights had been "widely recognised by the international community".

The Chinese report accuses the US of arrogance and is particuarly scathing about the Iraq conflict.

"The invasion of Iraq by US troops has produced the biggest human rights tragedy and the greatest humanitarian disaster in modern world," the document said.

Beijing's report, gathered from US and international news sources, quotes crime statistics and cites particular incidents such as the Virginia Tech massacre to back up its claims.

The report comes in response to the US State Department's annual survey of human rights across the world.

Although the report accuses China of denying its people basic freedoms, the country is not listed as one of the world's most systematic rights violators.

A KL Hotel?

Do you think this is a hotel? :)

Please comment.

Scandal-hit NY governor 'sorry'

Don't we all love scandals. Here's another one for you. Now, it's in America. Not surprising over there. So, it makes our Malaysian Health Minister scandal about the same eh. :) So much for being a politician where you get scrutinised by the people.

From the BBC.

New York State Governor Eliot Spitzer has apologised amid allegations of involvement in a prostitution ring.

The married father-of-three said he had acted in a way that violated his obligations to his family.

Mr Spitzer, a prominent Democrat who campaigned for ethical leadership, said sorry to his family and the public.

He made no reference to allegations published by The New York Times, which said he had been involved with a high-priced prostitution service.

"I have disappointed and failed to live up to the standard I expected of myself," the first-term governor told a packed press conference at his Manhattan office.

"I must now dedicate some time to regain the trust of my family," he added, as his wife of two decades, Silda, stood by his side.

He declined to answer questions as to whether he would resign but said he would report back "in short order".

Exclusive operation

Last week, four people were arrested in connection with the alleged prostitution ring, the New York Times reported.

As part of the investigation, a federal wire-tap on a Washington hotel last month had recorded Mr Spitzer allegedly arranging to meet a prostitute, the newspaper added.

Mr Spitzer, 48, had abruptly cancelled Monday afternoon appointments to meet senior advisors about the allegations, the Times reported.

According to court papers, the investigation involves an exclusive prostitution ring called the Emperor's Club VIP, which operated in cities across the US, as well as in London and Paris.

More than 50 prostitutes were employed by the ring, charging fees ranging from $1,000 to more than $5,500 an hour, prosecutors said last week.

The BBC's Matthew Price in New York says things do not look good for Mr Spitzer at the moment.

Although he has not confirmed that the allegations are true, Mr Spitzer looked deeply uncomfortable as he spoke to the media, our correspondent says.

He will need the help of his many influential connections within the Democratic Party if he is to hope to survive the scandal and make a comeback, our correspondent adds.

Political fallout

The Republican minority leader of the New York state assembly, James Tedisco, called for Mr Spitzer to resign "immediately".

"Today's news that Eliot Spitzer was likely involved with a prostitution ring and his refusal to deny it leads to an inescapable conclusion: he has disgraced his office and the entire state of New York," Mr Tedisco said.

The Republican Governors' Association also reacted quickly to the allegations, calling for Mr Spitzer to step down.

"Eliot Spitzer campaigned on ethics reform; unfortunately the governor of New York has egregiously failed his constituents," said the group's executive director Nick Ayers.

"The governor of New York should immediately resign from office and allow the people of New York to pursue honest leadership."

Clinton ally

The scandal could prove embarrassing for New York Senator Hillary Clinton, who is competing with rival Barack Obama to be the Democratic Party's choice to run for president.

A close ally of Mrs Clinton, Mr Spitzer has pledged to support her campaign.

He is one of the 796 super-delegates - party leaders and elected officials - who will vote on which candidate to back at the Democrats' national convention in August.

Mr Spitzer was elected governor in November 2006, promising ethical reform in New York.

As New York's attorney general, he had become known as the Sheriff of Wall Street for his relentless pursuit of financial wrong-doing.

His successes in that battle led Time Magazine to name him "Crusader of the Year" in 2002.

Mr Spitzer had also taken a firm line against prostitution in New York.

Waaaaaaah!!! Kancil Power?

Since when can a kancil overtake a Mercedez.

I was heading to KLIA today and a small white kancil overtaking my car at above 130 km/h. Serious. Not to mention, the car has 5 people in it. I couldn't believe it. Since when the car can move so fast at that speed. Already at 80 km/h, the car can start to shake but this one was like it was in The Fast and The Furious without the modifications somemore man. Don't play play.

Hahaha.

Within Temptation - Our Farewell

This song is stuck into my head for the past 4 days. It's all Sping's fault. :P

Super Sunday

Well, I have to admit that I was efficient on Sunday. Almost. I had to call MAS for ticketing, book a hotel in Singapore which was near to impossible, get a taxi to KL Sentral, switch off the entire house, not to mention I nearly forgot to take the passport and pack for 1 night in less than 10 minutes after coming back from a lunch buffet.

I'm impressed with my logistic work here. Hehehe. May be I should be doing management. I have always liked to sort things out. It gives me pride to get things done(most of the time) and done well.

Anyway, Itotally forgot to bring my camera. I really wanted to take some really good pictures of Singapore since I was near Marina Bay. At least I could have gone and see the Merlion and also the Singapore Swing, that big big ferris wheel which opened in last week. Cheh. Copycat of the London Eye.

Oh well, there is always next time and I got a new metal fan. Luckily, we didn't get tax for it. I know why buy a fan from Singapore? But because it's so much cheaper. It cost RM375 here whereas in Singapore it's just S$70 which is about RM180 at most. And even we get taxed, it would be at RM250. Still very cheap.

Now, it's time for me to rest. Will talk more about politics later. :P

One Week To Clean Up

They better or else!!! I will BURN them myself.

From the Star.

NOW that the election is over, all parties involved in the polls have been given seven days by local councils to remove their banners and posters or have their RM5,000 deposit forfeited.

A senior official from the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) said clean-up work scheduled on Tues-day was still pending due to recent developments in the new state government line-up.

Down they come: Segambut UMNO Youth members removing banners in Taman Tun Dr Ismail.

“Initially, we offered to remove the candidates' posters and banners if their party surrendered their deposit but the council president has yet to issue any directives.”

When contacted, Yap Yun Fatt, special assistant to former Subang Jaya assemblyman Datuk Lee Hwa Beng, said the matter had been referred to MPSJ.

“We have surrendered our deposit for the cleaning works to take place around the township because the campaign materials were placed over a vast area,” he elaborated.

Segambut UMNO Youth committee member Rahmat Atan, who had been entrusted with putting up and removing the election posters and banners, said work began as soon as polling day was over.

“I lead a 10-man team to clean up designated zones within the Segambut constituency, covering Jalan Kuching, Bukit Damansara and Taman Tun Dr Ismail.”

Time to go: Campaign workers clearing up their mobile operations centre off Jalan Semangat in Petaling Jaya.

He said it would take at least three days for the volunteers from the Segambut UMNO Youth division to complete the task. “Putting up the posters was a tedious task. Remov-ing them is easier,” he said.

Hi From Singapore

Miss me? Well, I was in Singapore for 30 hours. Seriously, I haven't done this kind of trip before giving me 15 minutes to pack, book a taxi and hotel for Singapore, watch off everything in the house.

Anyway, got to go. Plane calling now. :)

A New Day For Malaysia

So corny I know but I think it's quite appropriate without the I love you, touch by an angel and such la. Hahaha.

A New Day by Celine Dion.

A New Dawn For Malaysia

Well, to be honest, this is the brighest morning for the past week. Does this mean figuratively or literally. Let's pray and hope for the best for Malaysia.

From Malaysiakini.

Anwar ushers in ‘a new dawn for Malaysia’

A triumphant PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim described the victory of the opposition parties in five states and its breach of Barisan Nasional’s two-third majority in Parliament as “a defining moment” in the history of the nation and the opening of “a new chapter.”

“The people have voted decisively for a new era where the government must be truly inclusive and recognises that all Malaysians, regardless of race, culture or race are a nation of one,” he told a packed press conference at his residence in Segambut, Kuala Lumpur.

“The people have expressed in no uncertain terms that they want accountability, transparency, and the rule of law.”

Khalid to meet Selangor sultan soon

Election setback for Malaysia PM

Front page of the BBC News. We certainly made an impact. :) Sorry no pictures time. Not really interested with our PM's face and Anwar's too.

From the BBC.

The ruling coalition in Malaysia has suffered its worst election result in decades by winning only a simple majority, say election officials.

Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's National Front coalition lost its two thirds parliamentary majority and control of five state assemblies.

Analysts blame ethnic tensions, crime, and inflation for a drop in popularity.

Opposition figure Anwar Ibrahim hailed the result as a message that it was time for change in Malaysia.

The ruling coalition won 137 out of 219 seats, with three results still to come in, the Election Commission said.

Mr Ibrahim's Justice Party has 31 seats out of the opposition's 82 so far, according to the commission's website.

Mr Badawi, in office since 2003, said he would meet the constitutional monarch on Monday and ask to form a new government. He dismissed suggestions that he would now face pressure from party members to step down.

His son-in law, Khairy Jamaluddin, told reporters: "We suffered a lot of losses tonight. But we are going to fight on. We are not going to quit. It is not the end of the world and we are going to get through this."

'Time for change'

The BBC's Robin Brant says no one expected the opposition to do so well across the board.

It is clear, he adds, that people wanted change and Chinese and Indian ethnic minority voters deserted the National Front, in power for 50 years.

Before the elections only one state was under opposition control, Kelantan.

The Election Commission confirmed opposition wins in Kelantan as well as Selangor, Perak, Kedah and Penang.

Former Deputy Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who leads the opposition Justice Party, said the people of Malaysia had spoken.

"Today at the ballot box, you listened to your heart with a lot of conviction that the time for change has arrived..." he said.

"This is a defining moment, unprecedented in our nation's history. Today a new chapter has opened."

Mr Ibrahim has accused the government of widespread vote-rigging.

Voters are concerned about price rises and ethnic tensions

Our correspondent says there are many people who have as many suspicions about Mr Ibrahim as about the National Front's leaders. But, he adds, the claim that Malaysia has free and fair elections is not a just one.

Ethnic minorities make up more than a third of the population. Many complain that government policy has denied them fair access to jobs, education, and housing.

Growing tensions between minority communities and the Malay majority have dominated the election campaign and the government has appealed for calm.

The last time the National Front suffered a big setback, in 1969, it resulted in race riots, dozens of deaths and a state of emergency.

Our correspondent says there is not any sign of that sort of violence being repeated, but there is a fear of tension and anger and the next couple of days could be crucial.

Clashes

Some violence linked to the election was reported in the east of the country on Saturday.

Police in Terennganu State said they had fired tear gas to disperse a crowd of several hundred people protesting at what they saw as vote-rigging.

Supporters of the opposition PAS stopped buses they suspected of carrying National Front coalition supporters pretending to be voters from the district, said local police chief Ayob Yaacob.

He said that 22 people had been arrested and the rest of the crowd ran away.

BN Does NOT Have 2/3 Majority

The Opposition has gotten 1/3 of the Parlimentary seat. This is the greatest achievement the Opposition. Now, the game is on that whether can the Opposition can deliver. You really have to prove that you can be the next leader of the country.

Please do not DISAPPOINT us!

Malaysian Government Suffers Big

Barisan Nasional has lost a big chunk of seats this time. As for now, they have lost Selangor, Perak, Kedah, Pulau Pinang and Kelantan. This is the biggest seats for the opposition since independence.

My constituency Segambut is now under DAP. From 60,000 votes to BN, it has shifted to DAP by 7k votes. Federal Territory has lost nearly all its seats. This is the blow to the government and now we are waiting whether the government will get 2/3 of the parlimentary seats. The most crucial for the people of Malaysia.

I can't sleep because I'm so excited. Well, let's see and wait.

Bye Bye Penang, Kedah and Kelantan

Latest news from election.

Those states are now in the opposition. This is so exciting!!!

So many things will change now.

Voting Complete

As a responsible Malaysian, I have done my part. I'm now control the fate of my beloved country. Hahahaha. Okay. Over dramatic here but I believe and hope that my vote will make a difference to the country.

To my surprise, my polling station was really fast. I did it in less than 2 minutes. Make it 30 seconds.

The process goes like this:

1. Enter the your polling station(schools usually) and you should be greeted by many people from the various parties. The police will block off roads entering the school. However, the first tent was DAP which offered their help to guide me which polling room I was to go to make the transition faster.

N/B: There's a rule that they must be no party poster around a raduis of 50 metres away from any polling station.

2. You give your IC to be checked. They will give you a ticket stating which room you need to go too. There will be escorts around to show you which room to go. In Hartamas Primary, it had 3 rooms only.

3. Then you go to your polling room. There will be a police man in front of the door to direct you.

4. In the room, there will be 4 people. Show IC again. One from the EC to read out my reference and identification to the other 3 people who consist of one each representative from each party and one neutral party.

5. The EC will give you a folded, orange ballot paper with the party's symbols.

6. Go to the PAPER-MAKE SHIFT room and mark your party with a PENCIL on the ballot paper!

7. Throw your ballot in a transparent plastic box.

8. Exit the room quietly.

9. Cabut for teh tarik and complain about the election. Lol. :P

Anyway, it was quite a fast process but I'm just very very very very very disappointed that they used a PENCIL to mark my X on it. You gotta be kidding me. I mean how not to change the vote or 'accidentally' conteng the ballot paper. At least use the inerasible ink which the EC bought for RM2.4 million!!! DUUUUUUUUUUH!!! Even don't want to use that ink, then use a pen la!!!

Seriously, they got to improve this for the next general election. I'm going to bring this up to my MP.

Sorry no pictures taken during the polling station. So, if you want to know how it is, you have to be in it. :)

Voting Voting

Okay. It's 9.30 a.m and I'm still not at the polling station even it's just a 8 minute drive away. Hahaha. Well, I'm just taking my sweet time. Need to think hor. :P

Anyway, I wonder whether I can bring a camera along. :)

Friday 7 March 2008

Campaigning Is Over

Well, it's 7 p.m. All parties should stop campaigning after spending nearly RM5-10 million dollars per candidate(most of BN candidates anyway). So, I wonder what time should I go to my polling station.

It's time to exercise my vote. :)

What Is Wrong with A&W Tin Can?!?!?!?

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THE STUPID TIN!?!?!?!?! This is the second time exploding in my mini-bar fridge and I have to clean it up since I bought the drink. Last time, 1 exploded and the other was disfigured. Now, this one has a tiny crack and it leaked out slowly making it worse. The liquid has solidified to become Root Beer caramel.

It must be the quality of the tin. Less aluminium therefore less strength. Yikes. Don't want to think about materials from Aero.

Now, I have become the maid of a house. Aihhhhhhhhh.

ARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!

Voting Time

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm. I'm still deciding leh. I have read all parties manifestos and I'm still uncertain what I want. HOW HOW HOWWWWWW!!!

I mean yea yea vote Opposition but can we even let them run the country. Day in day out you see brickering, people leaving the party, people on a power house mission and such. It just makes you think that politics in Malaysia is just stupid.

I also won't blame people if they also get fed up.

Harry Connick Jr. Concert in KL

Now, I tell you. I had no idea who this guy was. Though he looked every familiar. Then I remembered he acted in Will and Grace as Dr Leo and also the sidekick of Will Smith in Independence Day.

Anyway, I didn't know he was a singer and pianist. Damn. He is good. Hahaha. His songs are mainly jazz and mainly where he is from, New Orleans. His band was good. Not to mention, it was held in none else than the Petronas Philharmonic Hall. I can't really show how it looks like because they said no pictures.

But at least at the end of the show, I can get this picture. :)

McCain Wins Republican Nomination

So, we have a Republican nomination for the States. Now, we shall see who the Demoratics will produce. Either way, they would either produce the first woman president or first black president of the United States. Gila babi ni. :)

But to be honest, this is more like it. Fair electoral system. Aihhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. We still have a lot to learn.

From the BBC.

John McCain has won the Republican party's nomination to run for US president with projected poll wins in Ohio, Vermont, Rhode Island and Texas.

His closest rival, Mike Huckabee, has dropped out of the race and pledged to support Mr McCain's candidacy.

The Democratic contest remains on a knife-edge, with Hillary Clinton projected to win Ohio and Rhode Island.

Barack Obama is projected to win in Vermont, while in the Texas Democratic poll the result is too close to call.

Mrs Clinton's projected wins in Rhode Island and Ohio appear to have ended Mr Obama's month-long winning streak.

Mr McCain's victories in all four states take him over the threshold of 1,191 delegates needed to claim the candidacy at the party's national convention in September.

The result represents a remarkable comeback after his campaign was all but written off following setbacks last summer.

Speaking to supporters in Dallas, Texas, he said the most important part of the campaign now lay ahead, in which he must "make a respectful, determined and convincing case to the American people" to pick him over the Democratic candidate in November.

Mr McCain went on to outline the challenges facing the nation, including the war in Iraq and the fight against al-Qaeda and the Taleban.

He also pledged a campaign that avoided "false promises", and appealed for voters to "stand up and fight for America, for her strength, her ideals and her future".

He will go to the White House on Wednesday for lunch with George W Bush, when he is expected to receive the president's endorsement.

Conceding the race at a rally in Irving, Texas, Mr Huckabee said: "It's now important that we turn our attention not to what could have been or what we wanted to have been but what now must be, and that is a united party."

Both Democratic candidates called Mr McCain to congratulate him on sealing the Republican nomination.

For the Democrats, a total of 370 delegates to the nominating party convention in August were at stake in Tuesday's four races.

The race was still too close to call in Texas, the day's biggest prize with 228 delegates up for grabs, including 67 in caucuses held after the primary vote.

Mr Obama had 1,386 delegates to Mrs Clinton's 1,276 going into Tuesday's contests, the AP calculated. A total of 2,025 is needed to secure the Democratic Party's nomination.

DAP worrrrrr

Damn funny la this Kenny Sia with his Who-To-Vote-This-Election Decision Generator. I wonder this is very accurate. You must do it.

Since I made this public, I wonder whether Barisan would pay me money to change the vote or not. Muahahahahahahahaha. Why not leh? Extra RM200 in my pocket what. :D

p/s: Hope I don't get into trouble.

According to the 100% accurate kennysia.com Who-To-Vote-This-Election Decision Generator™, I am voting for...

DEMOCRATIC ACTION PARTY!

Who Should You Vote For This Election?

Indelible Ink Plan Erased

BREAKING NEWS! I don't believe even this is even happening just 4 days before the election. For the past 2 weeks, I have been on the fence to vote for which party. But now, I know what to do. This is just embarrassing and ridiculous. How dare they even do this! Total bullshit!

From Malaysiakini.

The Election Commission has cancelled the use of indelible ink for this general election, citing public order and security issues.

The stunning announcement was made at a press conference in Putrajaya this afternoon - four days before polling.

abdul rashid abdul rahman and spr and general election 130208EC chairperson Abdul Rashid Abdul Rahman said the commission was obliged to make a "firm and final decision to ensure the smooth conduct of the 12th general election".

"Following legal advice and looking at the issue of public order and security, the EC... has decided not... to introduce the use of indelible ink," he said.

"The EC views these issues seriously, as the election process and public order and security cannot be compromised," he added. "The EC deeply regrets its decision."

Abdul Rashid said the use of indelible ink would not be effective as the country's constitution allows those who refuse to have their fingernail marked with the ink to still be issued with a ballot.

He added that the use of the indelible ink could infringe the constitutional right of a voter to cast his vote, especially if the commission tries to bar someone from voting for having an ink marked in his finger.

"From a practical point of view, the issuance of a ballot paper to such a voter would render the EC's proposal meaningless and will not bring about a positive result, whilst having the potential to create misunderstanding as well as altercations and arguments at polling stations," he said.

He added that the Federal Constitution gives Malaysians the right to vote and a black mark on the fingernail should not bar people from exercising this right, he said.

The loophole can only be removed with a constitutional amendment, which requires a vote by parliament, which has been dissolved for elections to take place.

Also present at the press conference were attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail dan inspector general of police Musa Hassan.

Police Report Lodge

Abdul Rashid also said there were reports made to the police alleging that certain quarters had purchased indelible ink from abroad with the intention of creating confusion and suspicion as to the status of voters.

He added that police reports were lodged in Kelantan, Perlis and Kedah between Feb 16 and 21 and as a result four individuals are being questioned by the police.

"Their intention is to create confusion and suspicion as to the status of such voters," he said.

"This may cause chaos at polling stations which, if widespread, may be difficult to control."

"The EC views these issues seriously as the election process and public order and security cannot be compromised," he said.

The indelible ink was to be introduced for the first time in Malaysia as part of efforts to enhance transparency.

In line with this, along with the introduction of the ink, the EC had also allowed for the casting of postal ballots to be observed by polling agents and the use of transparent ballot boxes.

The EC believed that the changes would quell some of the allegations that Malaysian elections are not free and fair.

In preparation for the use of the indelible ink, the EC had previously said that it would buy approximately 48,000 bottles of indelible ink worth RM2.4mil from India.

Women voters had also been repeatedly reminded to remove their nail polish before going to the polls on March 8, as it would be difficult to apply the ink otherwise.

Fears of Multiple Voting

However, even before today’s about-turn from the EC, questions were already being asked as to how the commission can compel voters to apply the ink as the Election (Conduct of Election) Regulation 1981 has not been amended to include the use of the indelible ink.

the indelible ink 040208The EC responded by stating that voters who were against the use of indelible ink would have to fill out a form seeking to be excused before casting their vote.

The opposition has two days ago ticked off the EC for appearing to have second thoughts on the introduction of the indelible ink.

R Sivarasa, the candidate for Selangor's Subang, argued that the ink would stop possible incidences of multiple voting.

"They misled all Malaysians, not only yourselves, the voters of Malaysia and us, that they would implement the (use of) indelible ink - they also issued numerous statements about how much indelible ink would cost and they said they would buy it."

Damn This Hazy

Damn this hazy. I think that's the cause of my headache. Lack of oxygen. Stupid Malaysia or stupid Indonesia. Keep on burning forest. Talk so much of signing of memorandum for preventing forest fires etc.

I wonder whether our politicians even bother to take notice about this since it's the election. Aihhhhhhhhh. I think people only choke or die then they will take notice. If not, they are more worried about their campaign. The Opposition should take an opportunity about this situation la. Duh.

Headache Only

Sleep can't sleep. Now I'm having a sleeping disorder? Aihhhhhhhhhhhhh. Just stress only. I suppose I'm a bit anxious whether I'm going to Kemaman tomorrow. So many decisions need to be done yet I can't really do much now.

Working Makes You Happy?

Well, I know sometimes it does. I suppose I shouldn't be saying this too early yet since I'm not really working on a full time basis. But I suppose went a plan gets into action and it's been executed. Cheh. Sounds so engineering-ish. Hahaha.

Either way, I'm quite happy that I have some work to do. It keeps my mind slightly(well MORE active than sitting in front of my TV or computer 24/7) sharper and off of things. It has been quite hard the past few weeks.

Don't want to emo too much either. :)

Still hunting for Mas Selamat?

This is getting better. Previously, I wrote about wrote about this. I know I'm being evil but seriously, Singapore is so small can't find a man meh. Deploy the entire island la. Why so hard? Singapore can do anything right. But the news is that he escaped when he went to the toilet. Beat that. Someone is going to pay for it.

From the Star.

KUALA LUMPUR: Indonesia has mobilised its navy, army and police around the Riau archipelago in a major effort to help Singapore track down its wanted terror fugitive Mas Selamat Kestari, an alleged Jemaah Islamiah (JI) head, who had escaped detention in the island state.

A senior Indonesian anti-terrorism police told the Star they are concentrating their search in and around Bintan, Pemping, Bulan, Kelong and Telan islands and several other smaller Indonesian islets nearer to Singapore.

“We don’t think he would have gone far if he has entered the Riau Archipelago.”

He said the navy was despatched to check on trawlers and other smaller fishing boats plying near these islands to prevent Mas Selamat from fleeing to other Indonesian islands.

He said Indonesian police were also monitoring ferry terminals in the Riau Archipelago that provided service to major Indonesian towns and cities to prevent Mas Selamat from escaping to Java or Sumatra.

“We believe once Mas Selamat arrives in Bintan or smaller islands here, he is likely to make his way to Java or Sumatra.”

Mas Selamat had sought refuge in Java and Sumatra when he escaped police dragnet in 2001 when the Malaysian and Singaporean authorities launched a major crackdown on JI activities.

Meanwhile, Interpol yesterday issued an arrest on sight alert - this is the latest global alert that Interpol has sent out as part of a worldwide bid to capture Mas Selamat.

The red alert followed an Orange Notice it posted on its website on Thursday. Mas Selamat, 47, fled from a toilet in the Whitley Road Detention Centre in Singapore on Wednesday afternoon.

The government has said a ''security lapse'' led to his escape.

Mas Selamat, who is known to walk with a limp, is accused of plotting to hijack a plane and crash it into Singapore's international airport.

He was being held under the Internal Security Act, which allows indefinite detention without trial.

Prince returns from Afghanistan

To be honest, I think it's very admirable and honourable for Harry to do. I think this has been one of this better choices(well, the Queen told him) compared to last time(with his infamous picture dressed as a Nazi) that he has done something well. Definitely without a doubt, he has served his country well and of course made his mother proud.

What I'm just annoyed is that he was already been deployed but yet the press or whoever it is, just exposed all of these. They might have an interest at heart to keep him safe but have they thought about him wanting to be there fighting with his comrades. Yes yes, he is the next king in line after his father and brother, but by exposing this, you are putting him in danger. Without a choice, obviously the Government has to pull him back.

It's not about glory of anything right. Putting his life on the line. Sometimes, I dunno whether the press is good or sometimes just assholic.

From the BBC.

Prince Harry has returned to the UK after being withdrawn 10 weeks into a front-line deployment in Afghanistan.

Prince Harry's deployment was subject to a news blackout Prince Harry has returned to the UK after being withdrawn 10 weeks into a front-line deployment in Afghanistan.

The prince landed at RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire, where he was met by Prince Charles and Prince William, and left the base after more than an hour.

The Prince of Wales spoke of his "great relief" at his 23-year-old son's safe return from Afghanistan.

Prince Harry's tour was cut short after a news blackout broke, leading to fears he would be targeted by the Taleban.

'Particular frustration'

The prince landed in a Tristar transport plane at 1129 GMT with about 170 personnel, most of them having completed their tours of duty.

The plane was carrying three badly injured soldiers, two of whom were taken off at Birmingham en route to Brize Norton.

Several dozen servicemen filed down the steps from the plane before the prince emerged.

He walked across the tarmac with his colleagues carrying a large kit bag over his shoulder, and made his way to the terminal building.

The Prince of Wales said: "I feel particular frustration that he was removed unexpectedly early because, apart from anything else, he had been looking forward to coming back with the rest of his regiment."

He added: "We owe an enormous amount to those families of servicemen who endure so much and support their loved ones with such understanding. It makes a huge difference.

"I also feel very strongly that we don't often appreciate what the people in the armed forces are doing, putting up with the most impossible conditions, very often in hazardous circumstances in heat or freezing cold, being shot at or rocketed at and goodness knows what else."

After an hour and 10 minutes, Prince Harry left the base still in his combats, with Prince Charles and Prince William. His brother helped Harry carry his kit to their grey Audi.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown said: "The whole country is going to be delighted that Prince Harry has come back safely."

Front-line Posting

Speaking before his withdrawal from Helmand province, Prince Harry said he was enjoying being in Afghanistan and away from the British media.

The prince also said he would relish another front-line posting.

"It's something I would love to do," said the third-in-line to the throne.
Prince Harry is a trained soldier. I'm in the service too and I'm pleased for him that he was allowed to go

"I don't want to sit around Windsor, because I generally don't like England that much and it's nice to be away from all the press and the papers."

Brize Norton station commander, Gp Capt Malcolm Brecht, said Prince Harry was one of many soldiers returning home at the same time.

He told BBC News: "There's nothing special today actually, this is routine.

"We have pretty much daily flights from Iraq and Afghanistan and he's one of many passengers coming back through here today, between 700 and 800. We look forward to welcoming them all back."

Foot Patrols

Prince Harry was sent secretly to Afghanistan in December but was ordered out of the country by defence chiefs on Friday.

He was based in a former madrassa along with a Gurkha regiment, and his role involved calling up allied air cover in support of ground forces and going out on foot patrols.

The Household Cavalry officer was picked up from manoeuvres and flown to a base at Kandahar to join his flight back to the UK.

The prince's deployment was subject to a news blackout in a deal struck between the MoD and newspapers and broadcasters in the UK and abroad.

The agreement broke down after the story appeared on influential American website The Drudge Report.

The MoD has refused to be drawn on press speculation that Harry's brother, Prince William, will be deployed on board a warship after his Royal Navy training later this year.

Trouble Sleeping

These 2 days, I seriously need to sleep properly. I keep waking up at 2-3 a.m. I know on Saturday night, some cina apek called me at 2 a.m. So how, I heard that a second miss call and I was awake for sometime. I think there is something wrong with me.

Anyway, I hope you younglings had an excellent time for MNight. 2 nights wei. Well, congratulations and I hope seeing the DVD very soon.
