NOW that the election is over, all parties involved in the polls have been given seven days by local councils to remove their banners and posters or have their RM5,000 deposit forfeited.
A senior official from the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) said clean-up work scheduled on Tues-day was still pending due to recent developments in the new state government line-up.

“Initially, we offered to remove the candidates' posters and banners if their party surrendered their deposit but the council president has yet to issue any directives.”
When contacted, Yap Yun Fatt, special assistant to former Subang Jaya assemblyman Datuk Lee Hwa Beng, said the matter had been referred to MPSJ.
“We have surrendered our deposit for the cleaning works to take place around the township because the campaign materials were placed over a vast area,” he elaborated.
Segambut UMNO Youth committee member Rahmat Atan, who had been entrusted with putting up and removing the election posters and banners, said work began as soon as polling day was over.
“I lead a 10-man team to clean up designated zones within the Segambut constituency, covering Jalan Kuching, Bukit Damansara and Taman Tun Dr Ismail.”
